Record Executive Amir Windom Gives Students Sound Advice
Grammy Award-winning Record Executive Amir Windom shared with students at Saint Augustine’s University what it takes to go from success to significance by sharing his journey in the entertainment industry. Windom has held executive and management positions at historic record labels such as Atlantic Records, Def Jam Records and Bad Boy Records.
He shared some of his experiences, knowledge and guidance about being a young executive and the challenges he faced. His discussion touched on entrepreneurship, leadership development and career. One piece of advice he stressed to students is that there are four people that they should have in their life.
“You should have someone older for guidance, a peer for friendship, someone you do not want to become, and someone younger that looks up to you.”
Maela Way, a junior from Los Angeles, Calif., expressed how Windom’s message inspired her.
“By attending Mr. Amir Windom’s presentation, I came hungry but I left fed,” said Way, who is majoring in mass communications with a minor in broadcast.
