Suber honored by Capital City Sertoma Club
Saturday, Feb. 9, President Dianne Boardley Suber was honored by the Capital City Sertoma Club with a Roast or Toast affair. Throughout the evening, the audience enjoyed memorable stories, funny jokes and several touching moments as President Suber’s friends, family and business associates saluted her.
President Suber was roasted by Dr. Roland Bullard, vice president of Student Services and Development; Ms. Janette Johnson, director of the Saint Augustine’s University Women’s Center and Title IX coordinator; Coach George “Pup” Williams, athletic director and head track and field coach; Attorney Sarah Ford, partner at Parker Poe and Associates; Hope Williams, president of North Carolina Independent Colleges and Universities; and her close friend, Mrs. Patrick Noble.
In her closing remarks, Dr. Suber reminded the audience that it is our responsibility to “leave it better than we found it,” and committed that she would continue to fight for those causes that are close to her heart.
The Capital City Sertoma Club hosts this annual event as a fundraiser to support the philanthropic work they do in the triangle. Sertoma International is a federation of 600-plus clubs, representing approximately 20,000 successful civic leaders – men and women alike – who are dedicated to volunteerism, and SERvice TO MAnkind.
